Rams fall to Kane

September 16, 2011

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg boys soccer lost 3-0 to Kane Thursday night at Memorial Field in Johnsonburg.
The Rams and Wolves played a fairly even first half with Kane holding just a 1-0 lead entering halftime.
In the second half, Kane scored with 15:30 and 6:14 remaining to ice the game away on a crisp night.
“We played a good first half and the thing is we made a few mistakes upfield,” Johnsonburg coach Lance Rezmerski said. “Kane capitalized on it and once they got the momentum they definitely took charge of the rest of the game. They got a nice team. They’re one of the teams we’re going to have to try and beat.”
Rezmerski said he was pleased with the play of freshman goalkeeper Mason Walters. Early in the game, Rezmerski also had striker Kyle Sheldon in the defensive third of the field in a tactical adjustment.
“Mason Walters did a good job for us as a freshman in the goal, he’s been doing a good job all year,” Rezmerski said. “We tried to pull Kyle up to score a goal and it was a little tough."
Johnsonburg will play at Ridgway at 10 a.m. Saturday in a battle of county rivals.
