CLARION – Beating Smethport two out of three times this season wasn't bad.
In fact, Johnsonburg's second win was enough to send Johnsonburg into Pennsylvania's final four in Class A.
Johnsonburg used a 16-0 second quarter run en route to a 54-43 win over the Hubbers in the PIAA Class A quarterfinal held at Clarion University Friday night.
A layup from Smethport's Ryan Stratton had the Hubbers up 13-11 with 6:18 left in the first half. It would be Smethport's last hoop for over 5:30 as the Rams would score 16 straight and take a double digit lead into halftime. Junior point guard Cole Peterson started the run with a steal and a layup to tie the game at 13. Peterson led the Rams with 14 points. Johnsonburg coach Bill Shuey said the defense helped spur the run.
