Ramettes take consolation game in County Tournament

Johnsonburg softball was the consolation game winner of the Elk County Softball Tournament with a 9-7 victory over Ridgway Monday afternoon.
The game was rescheduled from Friday afternoon.
Johnsonburg took the lead in the top of the fifth inning. Kiana Myers would single with one out. After a groundout, Myers scored on a single from Tommi Wildnauer to put the Ramettes ahead 6-5.
The Ramettes extended the lead in the sixth inning with three runs. Lydia Hefright singled with one out while Alexa Marciniak and Danie Jo Dwyer walked. Hefright scored on a Ridgway error while Brittany Watts singled home Marciniak and Dwyer for a 9-5 lead.
Ridgway would halve the margin in the bottom of the sixth. Jenna Hoffman led off with a single. After a fielder's choice, Sydney Kovalyak singled. After a flyout, Ashley Viglione doubled to score Jenni Thomas and courtesy runner Paige Grazioli to push the Lady Elkers within two. Ridgway was able to secure a leadoff walk in the seventh inning but the Lady Elkers were picked off. Ridgway went down in order from there to stop any hint of a comeback.
Dwyer opened the game with a walk. After getting back to base on a rundown at third with two outs, she made the hustle pay off as Watts doubled her home for the game's first run.
Sam Kovalyak would single home a pair of runs in the first inning to push Ridgway ahead. Her single scored Grazioli and Melissa Wehler. Grazioli ran for Sydney Kovalyak who reached on a Johnsonburg error. Wehler was walked. Ridgway loaded the bases in the first after a walk to Morgan Herzing but Myers was able to get a strikeout and a 1-3 groundout in the pitcher's circle to prevent any further damage.
Johnsonburg then struck for four runs in the third inning. Kassa Kocjancic reached on a Ridgway error. After a fielder's choice, Watts singled and Wildnauer walked to load the bases. Cassie Biondi would single home Watts and Myers. Katie Galsick then doubled to plate Wildnauer and pinch runner Raimi Akers as the Ramettes took a 5-3 lead.
Ridgway tied the game in the bottom of the fourth as Wehler singled to score Thomas and Grazioli.
Watts led the Ramettes with a 3-for-4 game and three RBI while Biondi had a 3-for-4 showing with two RBI.
Thomas was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Wehler, Viglione and Sam Kovalyak each had two RBI. Viglione and Sam Kovalyak each had a pair of hits while Grazioli scored three runs.
Watts and Sam Kovalyak were named to the All-Tournament from Johnsonburg and Ridgway, respectively.
