PSP hoping for safe holiday driving

July 3, 2014

Photo by Joseph Bell – Members of the Pennsylvania State Police Motor Carrier Enforcement Unit review vehicles just past the end of the Boot Jack bypass. Members of the unit are specially trained to look for discrepancies in log books that truckers are required to maintain as proof they're taking the required breaks. Title 49 is a federal law which deems truckers may only be on the road for 11 hours before they're required to take a break.

PennDOT officials, the Pennsylvania State Police and local police will be banding together in an effort to make Independence Day holiday travel safer.
