WILCOX – Wilcox resident Bailey Pretak has received word that she is now in the top 100 young women finalists in the Maurices Main Street Model Search, a clothing store chain that prefers to use regular women as their models.
The winner of the contest will be featured in store advertising and receive $7,500 to donate to a charity of her choice.
Pretak, 25, previously submitted photos and an essay, and needed to earn votes from the public in order to advance to this round.
"Thanks to the people in our small-town communities who voted, I made it into the top 100," Pretak said. "Now I will need to submit a video and over the next week, a panel of judges-- executives for Maurices, hair and makeup stylists, and Chris Straub, a fashion designer-- will be reviewing everyone's bios and pictures. They will decide on 20 girls to fly out to Minnesota for a final casting call, where they will choose the final 12."
Pretak said she was motivated to enter the contest in order to be a role model for young girls and show them that there are all different kinds of beauty, especially inside the soul. Her own lifetime experience with a skin disorder called Lamellar Ichthyosis has given her the strength to help other girls learn that they are beautiful just the way they are through the Princess Tea ministry she started last January for elementary school-age girls.
