Throw on your best polka dot shirt and head on down to the Courthouse Gazebo in downtown Ridgway this Friday night to watch the Friday Niters perform polka hits as part of the polka-themed First Friday initiative presented by the Elk County Concert Series.
The Friday Niters will be performing Friday, June 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. to kick off the Eighth Annual Elk County Summer Concert Series.
"The Friday Niters will perform polka and standards, and will be a welcome addition to Ridgway's First Friday events," said Elk County Council on the Arts Executive Director Abbi Peters. "The concert series is actually the Elk County Concert Series Committee which is between St. Marys, Ridgway and Kersey. We are all part of the committee and the concerts move from community to community in the hopes to get people coming from Kersey to see the Ridgway concert and Ridgway going to see the Kersey concert. We want to get everyone moving around to hear the music."
Attendees are reminded to bring a lawn chair or blanket. The concert is free and open to the public of all ages. If the concert is rained out it will not be rescheduled and information regarding the status of the concert can be found at www.eccota.com or by calling ECCOTA at 772-7051 the day of the concert after noon.
"It is our hope that we extend our hours every First Friday to get our adjacent neighboring communities to shop each other," said Main Street Manager Michelle Bogacki. "This is an opportunity for somebody, nonprofits, all of the retailers, and the Retail Division to the Chamber to take advantage. First Friday is not hard to remember as it is the first Friday of the month and it is a great promotional opportunity to band together."
