Pauline K. Gebauer

Pauline K. Gebauer, 82, of Elk Towers,185 Center St., St. Marys, and formerly of 430 W. 6th St., Emporium, died at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys, on Friday evening, Sept. 28, 2012.
She was born Jan. 8, 1930 in DuBois, a daughter of the late Rudolph and Anna Kassawara.
On Oct. 18, 1958 in St. Mark Catholic Church, she married the late Gerhard Gebauer.
Mrs. Gebauer graduated from Emporium High School, Class of 1948. After graduating high school, she worked at the Five and Dime Store. She then moved to Washington, D.C., where she really enjoyed living, and worked as a secretary at the Food & Drug Administration. She returned to Emporium to care for her mother and worked at Sylvania in Emporium. She then got married and raised her four children and devoted most of her life to her family.
When she was in her 50s, she attended DuBois School of Cosmetology, became a hairdresser, and worked from her home and also at local nursing homes. She was an avid reader, making several trips to the library each week. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and the C.D. of A.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Ann Gebauer of Columbus, Ohio and Christine, Mrs. James Howard of Eldred; two sons, Jeffrey J. Gebauer of Olean, N.Y. and Greg Gebauer and his wife Dana of St. Marys; and four grandchildren, Josh and Andrew Gebauer, and Aaron and Auston Howard.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gerhard Gebauer, who died Dec. 24, 2009, she was preceded in death by a brother in infancy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Pauline K. Gebauer which will be celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth St., Emporium on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt, O.S.B., as celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium.
There will be no visitation (private).
