Orlan K. Gearhart

Orlan K. Gearhart, age 89, a resident at Nugent Convalescent Home in Hermitage and formerly of Greenville, died Dec. 31, 2010 at Sharon Regional Medical Center in Sharon.
He was born Nov. 10, 1921 in Munderf, son of Lonnie A. and Esther K. Miller Gearhart.
On Nov. 25, 1940, he married Freda B. VanNorman, she survives.
A member of the Central Community Church in Transfer, Orlan enjoyed reading and playing solitare. He was a jack of all trades. He had been employed as an Equipment Operator at PPG Industries, at Sharon Steel and had also worked at Greenville Lumber/Crestwood Homes in Greenville for 16 and a half years. Orlan was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran having served in the Phillipines.
He is survived by his wife Freda B. Gearhart of Hermitage; two sons, Delbert (Sharon) Gearhart of Jamestown, Pa. and Bennie (Dorothy) Gearhart of Johnsonburg; two sisters, Doris (Gerald) Boria of Kersey and Vivian (John) Royman of Ridgway; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elwood "Jack" Gearhart; and two sisters, Avanelle Barnett and Zelma Timblin.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4 at Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. at 3 p.m.
Officiating clergyman will be Pastor Phillip Beck.
Place of burial will be Riggs Cemetery at Richardville.
