The Ridgway-Elk County Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the Third Annual Community Yard Sale scheduled for May 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine.
"We have registration forms [at the office] for residents-- it's a $10 fee for residents to be added to the printed map-- $25 for any vendor who would like to sell goods," said Michelle Bogacki, Main Street manager. "That could be yard sale goods or crafts. I place them around the Courthouse lawn. Those fees continue to support any of the advertising-- the proceeds that we gather will go to the Little Toby/Clarion Rail Trail, just like last year, and we're continuing to do that this year.
"The Rail Trail system gets some public dollars upfront for planning and the creation of the trail but there is no longer any money available to support maintenance so I thought it'd be a good idea if we could, as a community, start a little fundraiser to add to those components to support rail trail maintenance and so forth, and I know they work on a lot of drainage issues as well."
