A new unifying symbol designed to "galvanize greater awareness and action to end domestic violence and sexual assault" is gaining momentum.
"October has always historically been Domestic Violence Awareness Month, nationally and internationally," said Billie Jo Weyant, executive director at Citizens Against Physical, Sexual and Emotional Abuse, Inc. [CAPSEA]. "The Sexual Assault Awareness Month has always traditionally been in April. With Domestic Violence Awareness Month, that is a time when in October, we normally increase our press releases, we'll also increase our other media, radio, different things, just in an effort to promote what CAPSEA does and what we can do for victims."
