Nardino J. Manno, age 92, of 218 Euclid Ave., Ridgway, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, Jan. 18, 2011, at Pinecrest Manor following a brief illness. He was born July 30, 1918, in Ridgway, son of the late Anastasio and Carmella (Loiacono) Manno.
He married Philomena M. Rutigliano on April 24, 1948, she survives. He had resided in Ridgway all of his life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and the Samaritans at the Church. He was a loving, spiritual, dedicated and devoted husband and father. His second love was the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and in his spare time his hobbies included picking wild berries, grapes, fruits and making wine. He was called to serve the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska. When he completed his service to his country, he returned to Ridgway. He had been employed by Ridgway Color for 38 years.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Elizabeth Moline of Brockport and Nancy Cyone and her husband Daryl of Ridgway; two sons, Frank Manno and his wife Joan, David Manno and his wife Robertine, both of the Washington D.C. area; nine grandchildren, Julie Raybuck, Chad Moline (Kathy), Brian Cyone, Eric Cyone (Kristy), Nia, Anthony, Emily, Allyson and Laura Manno; five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kasey, Mckenzie Raybuck, Madison and Chase Moline; one brother, Frank Manno of Savannah, Ga.; one sister, Mary Thorwart of Johnsonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Angelo, Tony and Armond; and two sisters, Valia and Claire.
A Memorial Mass for Nardino J. Manno will be celebrated at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Kersey, Saturday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Brian E. Vossler, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church.
Burial will be in St. Leo Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home Friday from 4-7 p.m. Military Honors will be accorded by the Ridgway Servicemens Burial Detail on Friday at the Funeral Home at 4 p.m.
Memorials if desired can be made to the Ridgway Fire Department.
