Music director in need of host families

February 27, 2012

Photo submitted – Ridgway Area High School students Maxwell Palmer, Haley Freeburg, Logan Feronti and Greg Paige participated in District Chorus in January. All four students will be participating in the regional competition, but Logan will be competing.

Ridgway Area High School Music Director Theresa Morley-Palmer is looking for residents to open up their hearts and their homes and volunteer to house two more students during the regional choir competition.
As a host family, volunteers would provide a place for students to sleep on March 7, 8 and 9, a shower, a breakfast and a ride to and from school at 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
According to Palmer, 160 students from 53 schools will be coming to Ridgway Area High School to audition for a chance to compete in the State Music Festival in Lancaster in April.
"All of the students coming to the festival had to place at the district competition that was held in Warren in January," Palmer said. " They are all working so hard and are really looking forward to visiting our community."
As of now, Palmer needs about 45 more families to house about 90 students.
"Please give this some thoughtful consideration," Palmer said. "All these students want is a place to feel safe when they are not at rehearsal. If you are unable to help by housing a few great musicians, could you please spread the word and help me find some people who would enjoy meeting and talking to these teens from all over the region?"
To volunteer to become a host family, contact music director Theresa Morley-Palmer from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 773-3164 ext. 3219; 335-6832 (cell); or by email at
