JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Municipal Authority [JMA] voted unanimously in favor of purchasing a new dump truck during Tuesday night's regular meeting.
Manager Lisa Sorg presented quotes for three trucks. Officials decided on a 2012 Ford F-550 Regular Cab 4x4 from Murray Ford. The total cost of the truck after the trade-in and up-fitting price is $47,277.96.
The Authority received $28,094 for the trade-in of their eight-year-old truck.
Official Ed Gapinski said the old truck has been "nothing but heartache" since its purchase.
Sorg presented quotes from Hondru Chevrolet Pontiac for a 2012 Ram 5500 for a total cost of $55,404.28 and a 2012 Ford Super Duty F-550 DRW for $55,133.46.
In other business, officials approved the purchase of three double-walled chemical tanks for a total cost of $8,250.
"DEP [Department of Environmental Protection] required us to have a double containment," Sorg said. "We talked about getting a single wall that goes inside the single wall container that we have there [Silver Creek].
"DEP said that would be fine and it would be cheaper, but at the same time our mixers may not work then because we would have to get the mixers to fit and reach down further into the walls."
Five bids were opened by Chairman Eric Poague for a safe located in the office.
Rick Feronti was awarded the safe with his bid of $505.
The Municipal Authority office will begin the process of moving to their new location at 434 Center St. in downtown Johnsonburg later in the week.
Uni-Tec Engineer Dan Guss said the remaining three training classes are on hold until a new operator can be hired and be able to join the classes.
