Municipal authority increases water sales to drilling operator

October 20, 2011

JOHNSONBURG – As of Tuesday afternoon, the Johnsonburg Municipal Authority began selling 300,000 gallons of water per day to the Hunt Marcellus Operating Company.
The municipal authority began selling 157,000 gallons of water per day to Hunt on Aug. 22 for $8 per 1,000 gallons.
The sale of 300,000 gallons per day was permitted by the Department of Environmental Protection [DEP] on Oct. 3.
According to chairman Eric Poague, a 15-million gallon pond situated on top of the hill at the grange location will provide Hunt with a steady supply of water.
"There are plans to eventually have that pond feed all of their pad sites through a permanent pipeline," Poague said.
The pond is expected to be filled by Nov. 15.
