Municipal authority gets DEP approval
JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Municipal Authority is one step closer to selling 300,000 gallons of water per day to the Hunt Marcellus Operating Company after receiving approval from the Department of Environmental Protection [DEP].The municipal authority began selling 157,000 gallons per day to Hunt on Aug. 22 for $8 per 1,000 gallons."As of last Friday, DEP gave us approval to bump up to 300,000 gallons per day for sale to Hunt, however, Hunt is still waiting for their approval," said chairman Eric Poague. "We are still selling 157,000 [gallons] until they get their written permission. It's out of our hands."According to Denny Lingenfelter of Uni-Tec, Hunt applied for approval of 300,000 gallons per day, but DEP requested the completion of two items.The first requested item was the installation of a pressure reducing valve vault, which allows water to flow from the Powers Run side to the Silver Creek side of the system.
