Mersen USA's St. Marys plant fined by OSHA

August 12, 2014

ST. MARYS – Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspectors recently announced that Mersen USA's St. Marys plant, which is located along Trout Run Road, will face a $7,000 penalty for violations found during an investigation that followed a death at the facility earlier this year.
At roughly 9 a.m. on Jan. 30, an explosion at Mersen resulted in the death of Dr. Arwed Ralf Uecker, 52, of Boonton, N.J., and also caused injuries to plant production supervisor Neil Carter, 58, of Ridgway. Uecker was a visiting global director of research and development with Mersen's Boonton, N.J. office.
