Mary S. Butera

Mary S. Butera, 87, of 326 Allenhurst Ave., Ridgway, passed away, Friday, May 17, 2013, at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born in Platania, Italy, the daughter of Luigi and Pasqualina Butera, and sister of Frank M. Butera, who preceded her in death.
She was a resident of Ridgway and Erie, and a member of the St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Erie, and St. Leo’s Church in Ridgway. Miss Butera was a registered nurse who received her education from St. Leo’s School, St. Vincent School of Nursing (Erie) and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villa Maria College (Erie). She was retired having practiced at Elk County General Hospital, Our Lady of Lourdes, Camden, N.J., St. Marys Home of Erie, and St. Vincent’s Health Center education department in Erie.
Surviving are cousins in Italy, Australia and the United States.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Butera will be celebrated at St. Leo’s Catholic Church on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Fr. Brian Vossler, pastor. Interment will be in St. Leo’s Cemetery. Friends will be received in the Gathering Space at St. Leo’s for one hour prior to Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Leo’s Catholic Church, 111 Depot St., Ridgway, PA 15853 or to charity of donor’s choice.
