Martha E. Gardner

Martha E. Gardner, age 95, of 4639 Montmorenci Rd., Ridgway died Tuesday at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center in Erie following a brief illness.
She was born April 10, 1915 in Ridgway daughter of the late Elmer and Susan (Wilson) Gardner. She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Church retired women. She had been employed by Stackpole Carbon Company, the Elliott Company, Quality Components, and the Ridgway School District.
She is survived by one brother, Robert Gardner and his wife Genevieve of Ridgway; one sister, Mabel Manno of Frisco, Texas; a niece, Judy Visniesky of Ridgway, whom she raised and resided with; a niece, Linda McConnell, whom she raised and now resides in Hazen; a special niece, Wendy Huber and her husband Ken of Ridgway; and several other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes Gardner and Susie Gardner in infancy; three brothers, Walter, Elmer and Harry Gardner; and by one nephew, John Visniesky.
Funeral services for Martha E. Gardner will be held at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Erik Hart, Pastor of the Ridgway Area Lutheran Ministry. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Memorials if desired can be made to the Community Nurses, Inc. 757 Johnsonburg Rd., St. Marys, PA 15857.
