Margaret A. Nearing

Margaret A. Nearing, 96, of 1396 Burning Well Rd., Wilcox, died on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
She was born on April 20, 1915 in Wilcox, daughter of the late John and Anna Simko Pavlina.
On Nov. 4, 1933 in the Holy Cross Church in Rasselas, she married Linus J. Nearing, who died on Feb. 11, 2001.
She resided in the Wilcox area all her life and attended Wilcox schools.
Mrs. Nearing was a member of St. Anne's Church in Wilcox.
She is survived by four sons, Linus E. Nearing of Lake City, Charles W. Nearing and his longtime companion Nora Buzard of Wilcox, James N. Nearing and his wife Betty of Wilcox, and Raymond P. Nearing of Wilcox; three daughters, Carol M., Mrs. James Wismar of Wilcox, Patricia M. Stauffer and Sharon R. Nearing, both of Wilcox; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Yonker of Wilcox and Florence Pavlina of Horseheads, N.Y., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Nearing was predeceased by her parents; husband; great-granddaughter, Elly Brendel; four brothers, John, Michael, Joseph and Staff Sergeant Raymond Pavlina, killed in action in WWIl; and five sisters, Anna Syfer, Elizabeth Stansfield, Mary Donovan, Rose Engman and Alice Murray.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret A. Nearing will be conducted at St. Anne's Church in Wilcox on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Wilcox Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
