Margaret "Maggie" Shields McCoy Schreiber

Margaret "Maggie" Shields McCoy Schreiber, 76, of 74 Glass Rd., St. Marys, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 following a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born March 26, 1935, in Ford City, daughter of the late Edward L. and Anne McGinley Shields. In October 1993 in Wilcox, she married Robert J. "R.J." Schreiber, who survives. They were married by Fr. Norbert Wolf.
She grew up in St. Marys and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1952. She was a retired employee of the Sears store in St. Marys, where she had worked for 20 years. She was a member of St. Boniface Church, founder of the Guardian Angels Center in Kersey, and in 2003, she and Roseann Kronenwetter were honored by the Erie Diocese with the Caritas Award, which is the highest award given by the church for lay persons.
She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Edgreen of Mammoth and Lisa Miller (Ronald) of Latrobe; a niece who was like a daughter, Karen Shields Hovers of Cartersville, Ga.; three sons, Michael McCoy and his fiance Brenda Reed of DuBois, Thomas McCoy (Janet) of Cartersville, Ga. and Matthew McCoy (Lori) of St. Marys; five stepdaughters, Holly Daley (Jerry) of St. Marys, Amy Thorne of Kersey, Betsy Nissel (Tom) of St. Marys, Susie Budowsky (Kenny) of Hollywood, Fla., and Mary Foley (Bill) of Danville, Va.; two stepsons, Robert Schreiber (Paulette) of Kersey and Kie Schreiber of Kersey; 12 grandchildren, Melissa and Evan Edgreen, Jessica Dunn, Amanda Federok, Jonathan DeFrain, Shawn, Shannon and Lindsey McCoy, Matthew and Thomas McCoy, and Danielle and Megan McCoy; 14 stepgrandchildren, Joe and Rachel Schreiber, Michael Dreier, Heather Holger, Katie Thorne, Kylie Bleggi, Kiel Nissel, Megan Dellaquila, Matthew and Luke Schreiber, Helen and Anna Budowsky, and William and Jack Foley; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Taylor and Riley Dunn, Gavin DeFrain and Olivia Federok; and three step-great-grandchildren, Blake and Leo Bleggi and Ari Holzer.
She is also survived by a sister, Mary Lou Krieg of St. Marys; and three brothers, Bernard Shie of St. Marys, Thomas J. Shields (Kay) of St. Marys and Richard Shields (Phyllis) of Kane.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Curtis McCoy, on Dec. 20, 2004; three sisters, Dorothy Jones, Mercedes Krieg and Irene O'Brien; and by two brothers, James and Archie Shields.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret "Maggie" Shields McCoy Schreiber will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Friday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m., with the Rev. James Faluszczak, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
