PITTSBURGH – An emphatic statement was made in the second quarter by Lincoln Park Friday night.
There would be no celebration at the Leopards’ expense this year.
Lincoln Park outscored Johnsonburg 35-13 in the second quarter en route to a 96-46 win over the Rams Friday night at North Hills High School in the first round of the PIAA Class A boys basketball playoffs.
“They got up on us real quick, didn’t they?” Johnsonburg coach Bill Shuey said. “I think there was a time in the second quarter when we had four possessions and we turned it over four times. They got a 10, 12 point lead. I don’t know if that was the difference. Lincoln Park shot the ball very, very well. I don’t think they missed too many shots. We had to score with them, we knew that coming in. We had to be patient. I thought we had some good looks, they just didn’t fall. There’s not much we can do when they break and they’re playing above the rim.”
