JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Rams held a slim 22-21 lead going into the final matches Thursday night against visiting Clarion but could not shut the door in a 32-26 loss.
Devin Mann squared off against Clarion's Caleb Bailey at 113 pounds and overwhelmed the opposition, scoring five takedowns in an 11-2 major decision to earn a bonus point.
"[Mann] had five takedowns throughout the match and that was the best I've seen him wrestle all season," said Johnsonburg head varsity wrestling coach Mike Votano. "He's been working hard and the results are coming out."
A forfeit win for Clarion's Adrian Weber tipped the lead over to Clarion, 27-26, setting up a showdown between Johnsonburg's Cole Myers and Clarion's Riley Gunter.
