Lady Elkers fall to DuBois, 59-18

Ridgway girls basketball lost 59-18 to DuBois Wednesday night at Ridgway Area High School.
DuBois opened on a 6-0 run to start the game. Cara LaBrasca started with a basket for DuBois, then Jordan Fairman added consecutive field goals.
Ridgway then responded with five straight points as Nicole Breier hit a short field goal in the post and Jenni Thomas buried a 3-pointer for the Lady Elkers.
DuBois then went on an 8-0 run. Kourtni Ball added a hoop for DuBois and Fairman put in consecutive shots as she scored eight points in the opening eight minutes. Katelyn LaBue finished the run with a basket as DuBois led 14-5 with around three minutes left in the first quarter
After a Taylor Roseto free throw, Casey Wilcox, LaBue and a late shot from Samantha Kirk had DuBois holding a 20-8 lead after the end of the first quarter.
DuBois scored 11 points to open the second quarter to blow the game open at 31-8 near the midpoint of the second quarter. DuBois would lead 37-11 at the end of the second quarter. Roseto had a free throw and Sierra Kos added a bucket for the Lady Elkers.
DuBois continued to assert dominance in the third quarter as the Lady Elkers were outscored 17-1 en route to a 54-12 lead at the end of three periods.
Both teams began to empty their benches in the fourth quarter as DuBois took the 41-point victory.
Ridgway (0-9) hosts Brockway Friday night.
In junior varsity action, DuBois won by a score of 25-14.
