Lady Elkers defeat Oswayo Valley

January 14, 2014

Ridgway senior Ange DeAngelo skies for a layup during a 32-27 win over Oswayo Valley Monday night. DeAngelo had nine points to lead Ridgway in Monday's win.

Games and games of frustration were replaced by celebration Monday night as Ridgway girls basketball finished victorious, defeating Oswayo Valley 32-27 at Ridgway Area High School.
"It feels great. The girls, they deserve all the credit," Ridgway coach Stacy Kifer said. "I want to shout out to my seniors, Jenni Thomas was clutch at the very end making those free throws. Dani Shirey was really good at the beginning with her defense, Kiki Woodford who has been a role player on this team as well as Sarah Szczotka and Ange DeAngelo played an outstanding game too. I want to give all the credit to those senior girls. They have been mentors and leaders for the younger girls.
"We had some young girls step up and have really nice games," coach Kifer said. "Jessica (Kifer) and Kiersten (Hinton) rebounded really well, I'm very pleased with that. All the credit goes to the girls, these girls deserve this, they earned it, they worked very hard for it. I'm hoping this will give them the confidence they need and I'm just very pleased with the girls."
