Lady Crusaders hold off Ramettes for 38-34 win Saturday

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders held on for a 38-34 Allegheny Mountain League over the Johnsonburg Ramettes Saturday night at the ECCHS gym.
The Lady Crusaders took a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and never trailed until the 5:13 mark of the fourth quarter when the Ramettes went up 28-27. From there on, the Lady Crusaders outscored the Ramettes 8-7 to win the game. Brittany Watts gave Johnsonburg the 28-27 lead. Elk's Erin Petrosky made it 29-28, only to see Watts give the lead back to Johnsonburg 30-29. ECC's Taylor DaCanal hit a two and her teammate Michelle Imbrogno hit a three with 2:56 left to give ECC the 34-30 lead. On the play Watts was fouled and she was able to convert two foul shots, 34-32. With 1:58 left, Watts scored again to knot the game at 34. Elk's Macy Neureiter hit a three at the 1:42 mark, giving ECC the 37-34 lead. Imbrogno converted one of two foul shots, making the score 38-34 with 40 seconds left. The Ramettes had several opportunities in the closing seconds but none could find the mark as ECC won 38-34.
