Kenneth L. (Chunk) Danekas

Kenneth L. (Chunk) Danekas, 33, of 28 Lincoln St., Ridgway, died Thursday morning, July 7, 2011, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 10, 1977, in Sycamore, Ill., son of David D. and Jane M. (Fischer) Danekas. He married Kerri E. Brendel on June 19, 2004.
He had resided in Ridgway for 19 years and was a former Janesville, Wisc. resident. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the U.S. Bowling Congress.
He was a graduate of the St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1996, and a graduate of ITEC in 2002 in fabricating/welding. He had been employed by Abbott Furnace Company for five years.
He is survived by his wife, Kerri E. Danekas of Ridgway; three children, Paige L. Danekas, Kaiden D. Danekas and McKenzie L. Danekas, all at home; his parents, David D. and Jane M. Danekas of Ridgway; two brothers, Jeremy Danekas of Arkansas and Nathan Danekas of Wisconsin; one niece, Aubrie Manners of St. Marys; three nephews, Tyler Zelinski, Owen Zelinski and Gavohn Smith, all of St. Marys; and two godchildren, Austin and Josephine Pritt of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by one brother, David Shawn Danekas in infancy.
Funeral services for Kenneth L. (Chunk) Danekas will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 9, at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. David C. Roddy, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Oakmont Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home tonight from 6-9 p.m.
