Kay D. Salberg

Kay D. Salberg, age 83, of 2084 Ridgway Johnsonburg Rd., Ridgway, died early Thursday morning, May 12, 2011, at Elk Regional Health Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 9, 1928, in Ridgway, daughter of the late Lloyd M. and Eunice (Lund) Shaffer. She married Harry L. Salberg on Aug. 30, 1952, he preceded her in death. She resided in Ridgway for most of her life and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she was involved in many of the church activities including the church choir. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross and enjoyed baking and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Kay was a graduate of the Ridgway Area High School.
She is survived by three sons, Greg L. Salberg and his wife Robin of Earlysville, Va., Michael P. Salberg and his wife Theresa of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Scott C. Salberg and his wife Margaret of Ridgway; five grandchildren, Kevin, Stacey, Jessica, Cole and Eric; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Shaffer.
A Memorial Service for Kay D. Salberg will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11 a.m. Officiating with be Rev. David C. Roddy, Pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oakmont Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Ridgway Public Library at 329 Center St., Ridgway, Pa. 15853 or the the Ridgway YMCA, 34 North Broad St., Ridgway, Pa. 15853.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
