Judge upholds police search in 6-fatality crash case

September 3, 2014

SMETHPORT – A judge has upheld a police search involving the defendant in a criminal case linked with a 6-fatality crash on Route 219 near Lantz Corners just over a year ago.
Senior Judge William F. Morgan of Warren issued his ruling Wednesday during a 40-minute hearing at the McKean County Courthouse in Smethport.
The judge’s decision comes less than two weeks before the scheduled Sept. 15 start of a jury trial for Kathy Douglas, 37, of Kane. Another pre-trial “suppression-of-evidence” hearing is set for next Thursday, Sept. 11.
