Josephine K. Sorge

Josephine K. Sorge, age 94, formerly of 101 North Mill St., died Wednesday afternoon, May 9, 2012, at Pinecrest Manor, where she had been a resident for the past three months.
She was born in Ridgway on May 30, 1917 to Ralph and Theresa Panetta Testa. On June 25, 1938, she married Domenic (Bud) Sorge in St. Leo’s Church. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1984. Josephine attended Ridgway schools and retired from Quality Components in Daguscahonda, where she had been employed for 34 years. She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Ridgway Hospital Auxiliary and a recipient of the Outstanding Citizen Award from radio station WKBI in 2002.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria (Alan) Chileski of Ridgway; four grandchildren, Cindy (Tony) Allegretto of Ridgway, Luann (Steve) Dybowski of Ridgway, Tim Chileski of Cranberry Township, and Brian Chileski of Redondo Beach, Calif. She is also survived by a sister, Carmella Caggiano of Ridgway and by seven great-grandchildren, Bryton, Alyson and Katie Jo Dybowski; Daunte and Domenic Allegretto; Madeline and McKenna Chileski.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, a brother, Benjamin Testa, and three sisters, Betty Nardone, Mary Miles, and Jennie Reda.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Sorge will be celebrated at St. Leo’s Catholic Church on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Brian Vossler, pastor. Interment will be in St. Leo’s Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Funeral arrangements, are under the direction of the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Ridgway YMCA, Ridgway Public Library or the Ridgway Ambulance Corp.
