The 2012 Johnsonburg track and field team.

JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg track and field is ready to have a strong season after only a couple of events.
Johnsonburg coach Rene Timm said there is a good mix of new and returning athletes on the team entering this season.
“I’m excited about the numbers, we have a lot of faces back, a lot of new faces,” Timm said. “So far, it’s looking good. Mother Nature really gave us some good days to practice. I’m just looking forward to everyone stepping up and doing the same as we did last year and better.”
On the girls’ team, Johnsonburg announced early in the season that the Rams and Ramettes will be a presence at the district meet at the end of the season. Johnsonburg already has six district qualifiers out of the first full meet of the season. Chelsea Benson is there in the 100-meter hurdles while Gabbi Benninger is a qualifier in the triple jump. Ashley Imbrogno is a district qualfier in javelin while Rachel Guyer has made it in the 3,200-meter run. Emily Dubler is a triple jump district qualifier. Rhianon Fowler is a D-9 qualifier in three events, the 100-meter dash, the long jump and the triple jump.
“We had some really great performances and we’re looking for better places at states,” Timm said. “We’re looking for more place winners and maybe more kids to join the ranks and get to states.”
On the boys’ side, Michael Shuey is a district qualifier in both high jump and javelin while Cody Schreiber is a qualifier in pole vault.
