JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Area School District honored two teachers for their many years of service at the start of their regular board meeting Thursday night.
"We would like to recognize two of our educators who have served our district well and who have served their profession of teaching very well," said Superintendent Dennis Crotzer. "We would like to recognize them for their years of service, not only to Johnsonburg, but to the fine art of teaching."
A plaque was presented by Crotzer to elementary teacher Elaine Steis who taught in the district for 38 years.
"I would like to personally [acknowledge] Elaine for everything she has done at the elementary school," Crotzer said. "It is an honor for me to give you this [plaque]. Best wishes in retirement. What an educator you were."
Special Education Supervisor Rebecca Kreckel was recognized for her 33 years of service in public education, nine of which she served as the district's director of special education.
