Johnsonburg man arrested for sexual abuse of children charges

JOHNSONBURG – Police arrested Robert Fitzgerald, 56, of 305 Spruce Street, Johnsonburg, on charges of sexual abuse of children, dissemination of and possession of child pornography, criminal use of a communication facility, obscene and sexual material, identity theft, invasion of privacy, tampering with evidence, and harassment on Dec. 21 at 2:30 p.m. According to reports, police were called to a residence in the borough Dec. 17 for a photograph of the victim who discovered a partial nude photograph themselves on a website along with personal information in which they didn't know about or permit to be used. Police obtained a search warrant for Fitzgerald's residence in which a laptop computer and numerous compact discs were seized. Police found photographs and videos of children in sexual acts or simulation of acts and other images exposing their nude bodies. Fitzgerald was arraigned before Judge George Tony King and committed to the Elk County Prison on $15,000 cash bail.
