Johnsonburg baseball downs Ridgway, 16-0

Johnsonburg baseball won 16-0 in three innings over Ridgway Monday afternoon at Sandy Beach Recreational Park.
Johnsonburg's offense accounted for a 13-run first inning and sent 18 hitters to the plate. After a flyout opened the inning, Cameron Grumley reached on a Ridgway outfield error, getting to second base. Mitchell Holmberg singled home Grumley for the Rams's first run. Holmberg stole second and scored on a single from Joe Holmberg to put the lead at 2-0. Zac Luhr reached on a Ridgway infield error and Quinn Luhr singled to plate Joe Holmberg and put the lead to 3-0. Frank Kocjancic walked and a single from Kyle Sheldon scored both Quinn and Zac Luhr. Jesse Wolfe singled home both Kocjancic and Sheldon to make the lead 7-0.
Peterson reached on a Ridgway infield error which allowed Wolfe to score, Grumley also reached on a Ridgway outfield error. After a flyout to center field, Joe Holmberg was hit by a pitch and Zac Luhr singled home both Peterson and Grumley to make the lead 10-0.
A single from Quinn Luhr added a run with Joe Holmberg scoring and Kocjancic singled home Zac Luhr. Sheldon added an RBI with a single to plate Quinn Luhr and make the lead 13-0 after the top of the first.
Johnsonburg coach Jeff Peterson said the hitting has been coming along nicely for the Rams.
"Even since the weekend, I think we had it clicking a little bit," coach Peterson said. "I think our hitting has been really phenomenal, I think we've hit off some real good pitchers and that carried into [yesterday].
"I'm happy with our hitting performance," coach Peterson said. "We're hitting real well, we're running the bases real well, we're being aggressive."
Grumley notched a 1-out double in the second and scored on a single from Mitchell Holmberg to make the lead 14-0.
Johnsonburg loaded the bases in the third inning as Quinn Luhr singled and Kocjancic and Sheldon both walked. Wolfe hit into a fielder's choice to score Quinn Luhr and Peterson did the same to plate Kocjancic.
Ridgway had four errors in the first inning which led to at least five unearned runs.
Kevin Kilhoffer was 2-for-2 with a double for Ridgway, Ben Jaques had a single for Ridgway's three hits.
Quinn Luhr was 3-for-3 with two RBI. Zac Luhr had two RBI while Sheldon and Wolfe each had three RBI. Sheldon was 2-for-2 with a walk.
Ridgway is at DuBois Central Catholic for a 4 p.m. game Wednesday. Johnsonburg is at Curwensville Wednesday for a 4:15 p.m. start.
