John F. Hill Jr.

John F. Hill Jr., 68, of 231 Grove Ave., Ridgway, died Wednesday evening, July 23, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 1, 1945 in Erie, son of the late John F. Hill Sr. and Helen E. (Smith) Hill
On Dec. 28, 1968, he married Karol Givens.
He had resided in Ridgway for the past 36 years, but he was also a former Kane resident.
He was a 1963 graduate of the Kane High School, a 1973 graduate of Penn State and a 1976 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era.
He was employed by the John F. Hill Sr. Funeral Home in Kane, Motion Control and Carbide Graphite.
He is survived by his wife Karol G. Hill of Ridgway, and his daughter, Sarah E. Hill, also of Ridgway
He is also survived by his granddaughter, Julie H. Hill of Ridgway; his sisters, Natalie (John) DeWalt of Kane and Theodora Christjohn of Rew, as well as seven nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Hill, who died in infancy.
A memorial service for John F. Hill Jr. will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 4 p.m. Father Paul Siebert will be officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Kane.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Elk County Humane Society at 1029 East Eschbach Rd., St. Marys.
