Joann M. Eckert

Joann M. Eckert, 81, of 161 Teaberry Rd., St. Marys, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 at the Life Care Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Shawmut, daughter of the late John and Alice Keller Carr. On October 30, 1954, in the St. Mary's Church, she married Arthur A. Eckert, and he preceded her in death on June 12, 1994.
Mrs. Eckert was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School. She was a retired employee of the Keystone Powdered Metal Co., retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Queen of the World Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry Colello and her husband Matt of Kersey; three sons, Mick Eckert and his wife Diane of Daguschonda, Jeff Eckert and his wife Darnell of Kersey, and Andy Eckert and his wife Holly of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren, Wendy Eckert, Kelly Jo McGranor, John Eckert, Tony Colello, Chrissy Colello, Theresa Colello, Brittney Eckert, Brian Eckert, Nate Eckert, and Zach Eckert; four great-grandchildren, Patrick McGranor, Chloe McGranor, Savannah McGranor, and Jackson Colello; two sisters, Arlene Prechtl of St. Marys and June Appenzellar of York; and three brothers, Harry Carr and his wife Marian of St. Marys, Donald Carr and his wife Marlene of Ridgway, and Elwin Carr and his wife Charlene of St. Marys.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Copella and Betty Evans; and by four brothers, Floyd, Bernard, Gerald, and Francis Carr.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass for Joann M. Eckert to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Allen, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
The Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
