Joan Marie Rhines Carlini (Joanie), born June 14, 1941 completed her service here on Earth April 4, 2013 and went home to be with her Heavenly Father.Â
She passed peacefully at home with family.Â Joanie was a committed member of Word Tabernacle Church, where she was an Altar Counselor and a Prayer Intercessor.Â She lived her life excited to tell everyone about the power of Jesus Christ and His love for them.Â
Joanie took pride in being an â€śold schoolâ€ť registered nurse for 51 years and continued to work until January 2010.Â She said, â€śOnce a nurse, always a nurse.â€ťÂ Everyone who knew, Joanie, knew she was not easily intimidated and had the faith and strength to persevere until completion of endeavors.Â Joanie loved to read and had a passion to advocate for personal growth and development. She was a positive influence for her community and country. Joanie was a member of the Nash County Government Works Citizens Academy â€“ 2008, Human Society â€“ 2009, a lifelong member of the NRA, and a devoted member of the POC Municipalities Group â€“ 2010.
Joanie is preceded in death by her parents, Claire and Elsie Barr Rhines of Ridgway; her cherished son, Mark Carlini; a sister, Vernice Henning; and a brother, Jim Rhines.
She is survived by her oldest son, Michael Carlini with wife, Kristine, and their children, Dominic and Ariana of Brockway; a daughter, Marcy Vester with husband, Robin of Rocky Mount, N.C.; a brother, Jack Rhines with wife, Marge of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Richard Henning of Cincinnati, Ohio; and her loyal fur-baby, Jack.
The family will receive family and friends on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 4-6 p.m. at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A service to celebrate the life of Joanie will follow the visitation at 6 p.m. with James D. Gailliard, Senior Pastor, officiating.
