Joan M. Irwin

Joan M. Irwin passed away on June 27, 2012 at Aiken Regional Medical Center. She was born in Ridgway, graduated from Horton High School in Brockport and immediately was employed in the payroll department of the Elliot Company in Ridgway, where she worked for seven years. In 1961 she and her family moved to New Jersey where she was a church secretary for 34 years. After retirement she and her husband, now deceased, moved to Aiken, S.C. where she worked numerous part-time jobs. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Primetime Group, Circle 10 and volunteered at the church. She was a charter member of the AARP chapter where she held numerous offices.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Kathryn McMinn and her husband Richard.
Surviving is her son Richard "Rick" and his wife Bonnie of Cape Coral, Fla. Also two brothers, Jack and Ronny [Ginny] McMinn of Ridgway; two sisters, Barbara [Wayne] Matheson of Barberton, Ohio and Betty [Jay] Pifer of Aiken, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Brandy Camp Methodist Church on Oct. 6, 2012 at 2 p.m.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to Brandy Camp United Methodist Church.
