Jean Burkett, 87, of 224 Harbridge Dr., Ridgway, died Monday morning, March 31, 2014 at 122 Reserve Rd. in St. Marys following a brief illness.
She was born March 27, 1927 in New Kensington, daughter of the late Harvey E. and Rebecca J. (Speer) Hartman. She married Robert L. Burkett on June 18, 1959, he preceded her in death in 1965. She had resided in Ridgway for the last 34 years and was a former New Kensington resident. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Rebecca J. Newlon of Ridgway, Dorothy E. Burkett of Avonmore, and Connie L. Coutoriaux and her husband Robert of Hubbard, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Kelly, Robert, Chad, Bridgett, Todd, Richard, Candice, Nicole, Kati and Brian; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Roberta Jean; one granddaughter; eight brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, James Newlon.
Funeral and committal services for Jean Burkett will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 12 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Eric Hart, pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 3 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. Memorials, if desired, can be made to Asera Care at 231 Allegheny Blvd., Brookville, Pa. 15825 or to the Ridgway Ambulance Corp., or to the St. Marys Ambulance Service.
