Imbrogno has seven rebounds in boys' Kozel game

ST. MARYS – Game MVP Maxx Rynd of Venango Catholic scored 26 points to go with five rebounds and three steals to lead White to a 100-66 win over Blue in the 12th annual Alice R. Kozel Foundation District 9 Boys All-Star Basketball Game played Saturday night at Elk County Catholic High School.
Rynd became the first All American Awards & Engraving D9Sports.com District 9 Player of the Year to also earn Kozel Game MVP honors with his performance.
White used a 29-10 run in the final nine minutes of the first half to build a 53-34 halftime lead and then held off an early rally by Blue in the second half that saw it get back within 13, 55-42, early in the half. A 19-7 White run after that, however, put the game away.
Joining Rynd in double digits for the White squad were Brookville’s Kyle Baughman with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Kane’s Logan Depto with 13 points and Brockway’s Nick Anderson with 11.
White also outrebounded Blue 69-42 with Redbank Valley’s Brandon Bain collecting 11 boards to go with nine point, DuBois Central Catholic’s Chris Marshall had 12 rebounds and six points, Clarion-Limestone’s Brandon Bell 10 rebounds and six points and Cameron County’s Ryan Grimm 12 rebounds and four points.
ECC’s Tyler Herzing led Blue with 15 points, Oswayo Valley’s Camden Nolan had 11 tallies and North Clarion’s Jeremy Schmader 10. Johnsonburg’s Louie Imbrogno and A-C Valley’s Allan Eaton tied for team-high honors with seven rebounds each. Imbrogno added seven points and Eaton four.
NOTES – ECC’s Ricky Pearsall won the 3-point shooting contest held at halftime of the girls game. Pearsall hit 13 3-pointers one better than Nolan and Herzing and two more than Depto.
