Helen M. (Sis) Rohr

Helen M. (Sis) Rohr, 89, of 514 Kearsarge Ave., Ridgway, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 8, 2012 at the home of her son in Ridgway following an illness of the last four months.
She was born Aug. 3, 1923 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Persohn) Stritzinger. She married Theodore F. Rohr on Aug. 23, 1952; he preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1999.
She had resided in Ridgway for the last 49 years and was a former resident of Burgettstown. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, where she had been the church secretary for 35 years. Sis received the Bishop's Commendation for Service Award on Aug. 14, 2011.
She is survived by the following children: Jay Rohr (Karen) of Stering, Va., Frank Rohr (Adair) of Ridgway, Patty Ann Rohr of St. Marys, Sandra Burdick (Don) of Allentown, Elaine Brem (Randy) of St. Marys, David Rohr of Ridgway, and Janet Hanst (Robert) of Knox; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernadette Phillis of Burgettstown; one brother, Harold Stritzinger of Burgettstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Riley Reagan Griffiths; and two brothers, F. Regis and John Stritzinger.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen M. Rohr will be concelebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Brian E. Vossler, pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church, and Fr. Ross Miceli, resident priest at St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 10, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A wake service will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening at 7:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Helen's favorite charity: The Saint Lawrence Seminary at 301 Church St., Mt. Calvary, WI 53057-0505.
