WEEDVILLE – One of the county's resident bull elk recently found himself in a tangled situation after an encounter with what is believed to be a homemade hammock.
According to Doty McDowell, Wildlife Conservation Officer with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, the bull was first spotted by area resident Ben Keebler late last week outside of his home along the Caledonia cut-off road. Keebler's parents are friends with McDowell's family and so they contacted him regarding the animal. The next day Barb Kurtz, Conservation Education Coordinator at the Elk Country Visitor Center, also spotted the animal while on her way to work. She took a photo with her cellphone and also contacted McDowell.
