Gerald E. "Bud" Wonderling, age 77, of 101 North Mill Ave., Ridgway, died Thursday morning at Pinecrest Manor in St. Marys following a lengthy illness. He was born March 16, 1933 in Byrnedale, son of the late Jay and Winafred (Jury) Wonderling. He married Sarah E. Dush Plyler Wonderling on June 29, 1968, she survives.
He had resided in Ridgway since 1968 and was a member of Maria Lutheran Church in Dagus Mines. He was a member of the Alders Club at the High Rise and a past member of the Ridgway Lions Club. He had been employed by Bruno Tires in St. Marys for 10 years and retired from Clarion Sintered Metals with over 30 years of service.
Surviving besides his wife are the following: one daughter, Peggy Oliver and husband Buck of Williamsport; two stepsons, Sam Plyler and his wife Carol of Bradenton, Fla., Paul Plyler and his wife Barb of Ridgway; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Mattox and her husband Jim of Niles, Ohio; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Wonderling of Coal Hollow and Carlton Wonderling of Ridgway; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Reibson, and one sister, Kathleen Hetrick.
Funeral and Committal Services for Gerald E. Wonderling will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home Sunday evening at 8 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Erik Hart, pastor of the Ridgway Area Lutheran Ministries. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at 8 p.m.
