Genevieve (Jibby) M. Aiello

Genevieve (Jibby) M. Aiello, age 82, of 126 South St., Ridgway, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at her residence.
She was born May 2, 1929 in St. Marys, daughter of the late John H. and Genevieve Elizabeth (Benninger) Smith. She married John Joseph Aiello on Aug. 8, 1956, he survives.
She had resided in Ridgway for most of her life and was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, and playing cards. She was a 1947 graduate of the Johnsonburg High School. Genevieve had been employed by McBride Realtors for 12 years and had also been employed by Smith Lumber for 10 years.
Surviving besides her husband are the following children: Gina M. Aiello of Ridgway, John F. Aiello and his wife Lisa of Ridgway, Lisa A. DeLeon of Powell, Ohio, Diana L. Buehler and her husband Andy of Ridgway, Daniel G. Aiello of State College; 11 grandchildren, Sarah, Mary, Patrick, Alan, Rachel Buehler, Dominic, Matthew, and Maria Aiello, Sean and Michael DeLeon, and Anna Aiello; two sisters, Adeline (Allie) Donahue of Rasselas and Madeline (Mallie) McBurney Huff of St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard (Dick) Smith and John M. Smith III; and one son-in-law, Fred DeLeon.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Genevieve M. Aiello will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church. Officiating will be Fr. Brian E. Vossler, pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 30 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ridgway Fire Department, the Ridgway Ambulance Corp., or to the Community Nurses, Inc.
