Fugitive Smith turns himself in

EMPORIUM – Fugitive Thomas Edward Smith, 58, of Emporium, wanted for the attempted abduction of a female bank executive, turned himself in to authorities Monday night, according to police.
The Emporium Borough Police Department reports that at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, they received a tip from a concerned citizen that fugitive Thomas Edward Smith, 58, of Emporium, had just entered the Allegany Pub, 500 E. Allegany Ave., Emporium. Emporium Borough Police and Emporium-based Pa. State Police surrounded the establishment.
Police said that at approximately 8:45 p.m., Smith called from the bar and said he wanted to turn himself in. He surrendered to the Emporium Borough Police without incident.
