Frank J. Milliard, Jr., 80, of 2488 Water Street Extension, Johnsonburg, died Friday morning, Feb. 15, 2013 at the Lutheran Home at Kane following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 25, 1932 in Onondega, N.Y., son of the late Frank J. and Angeline Asti Milliard.
He married Joan Colosimo in 1957, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 8, 1988.
He resided in Johnsonburg since 1975 and had also lived in Riverside, Calif.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Church, the Johnsonburg Senior Center, the Prince of Piedmont Club, and he was an endowment member of the NRA. He loved to go camping, hunting, fishing, and riding his ATV.
He was a Korean-era U.S. Army veteran, serving overseas as a PFC with the Artillery Co. of HQ Company of the 6th RB & L Group.
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 13 years, retiring in 1998. He was also a member of the Carpenter's Union in California and Pennsylvania from 1962 to his retirement in 1987.
He is survived by three sons, Francis Anthony Milliard of Ridgway, Frank Raymond Milliard and his wife Lori of Johnsonburg, and Louis Milliard and his wife Sue Ann of Wilcox; a daughter, Judy, Mrs. Robert O'Rourke of Wilcox; eight grandchildren, Anthony and Angel Milliard, Abby, John, and Dylan O'Rourke, and Mason, Rayce, and Kallie Milliard; four grandchildren, Kyree O'Rourke, Payton Milliard, and Jema and Mia O'Rourke; three sisters, Velma, Mrs. Milton Penfield of Rasselas, Delina "Billie" Mares of Riverside, Calif., and Mary Ann "Chookie" Kwaitkowski of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a brother, Robert "Bob" Milliard and his wife Jan of Laguna Beach, Calif.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Milliard; a brother, Roy Milliard; and six sisters, Tina Candalor, Delina Milliard, Olivia Kreckel, Dolloy Hill, Theresa Milliard and Lucille Rassmussn.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank J. Milliard Jr. will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg on Monday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Monday morning at 9:15 a.m.
