Frank Charles Giffi Sr.

Frank Charles Giffi Sr., 94, of Reisterstown, Md. passed away on Jan. 2, 2011 in Baltimore.  He was born on April 10, 1916 in Ridgway to the late Carmine and Clotilda Giffi. He was married to the late Mary Louise Stringer Giffi.
He was a resident of Ridgway for 53 years. He was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Ridgway and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glyndon, Md. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, American Legion and Sons of Italy. He was a graduate of Ridgway High School and enjoyed playing all sports. He also enjoyed gardening and his grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received an honorable discharge on Nov. 17, 1945.
He was a self employed owner of The Olde Tyme Bakery in Ridgway until 1969. He then worked at Maryland Cup (Sweetheart) Company in Owings Mills until he retired.
He is survived by two sons, Frank Giffi Jr. and his wife Judith of Chester Springs, and Robert Giffi and his wife Lynn of Hampstead, Md.; four grandchildren, Stacey and husband John Tornetta, Stephen and wife Brooke Giffi, Tammy and husband Mike Szczepanski and Eric Giffi ; one brother, Joseph and his wife Audrey Giffi of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Thomasina Werschek of Nebraska and Annie McGonigaland her husband Jack of Johnsonburg; beloved friend of Nina Bosse. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by the late sister Rose Olay, Sue Grandinetti and brother Nick Giffi
Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, Md. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2010 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Requiem Mass will be on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester, Md. 21102. Interment will be in St. Leo’s Cemetery, Ridgway.
