Former student excited to follow in her teachers’ footsteps

JOHNSONBURG – As a former Johnsonburg Elementary School student, Kayla Nelson, the new Title I math teacher is inspired to be a part of the Johnsonburg School District as a teacher.
“I am so excited and honored to be part of such a fantastic school district,” Nelson said. “As a former Johnsonburg graduate, it is truly a privilege for me to return to the school district to follow in the footsteps of my elementary school teachers.”
Nelson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Edinboro University. Nelson is currently seeking her Masters in Special Education from Edinboro University.
Nelson said she became a teacher to be a part of helping kids become future leaders.
“I decided to become a teacher so I could help guide our future leaders,” Nelson said. “My favorite part of teaching is being able to work with children and help them succeed.”
As a Title I teacher, Nelson said her goals are directed at providing her students with a quality education while achieving success.
“My main goal for this year is to be an effective facilitator,” she said. “I want to provide the students with a quality education, and help students succeed academically.”
