Former firefighter charged with arson waives hearing

December 17, 2012

ST. MARYS - A former Crystal Fire Department firefighter charged with setting fire to his own mobile camper for the insurance money waived his preliminary hearing Friday in District Court 59-3-03.
The July 9 camper fire at 333 North St. Marys St. was one in a wave of arsons that swept through Elk County in 2012.
An investigation into the fire resulted in criminal charges of arson and insurance fraud being filed against 25-year-old Michael Anthony Scolari, who was not a member of CFD at the time the arson took place.
