CLARION – Former St. Marys Area wrestling coach Wayne Fordoski was one of seven individuals inducted into the District 9 Wrestling Hall of Fame on Saturday night, during a ceremony held prior to the AA and AAA finals at the District 4/9 Wrestling Championships at Clarion University.
Each year, the District 9 Chapter of the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association (PWCA) recognizes inductees for their "outstanding achievements and contributions as wrestlers, coaches, and contributors to the sport of wrestling."
A 1970 graduate of DuBois Area High School, Fordoski began his career as an assistant coach with the Dutch in 1975 and was named head coach in 1979.
Between 1979-2010, Fordoski amassed a dual meet record of 328 wins and 197 losses, coached 73 District 9 champions, eight NW Regional champions, 15 PIAA medalists, and two PIAA state champions. During that span, the Dutchmen also won three District 9 Team Championships and four D9 Dual Meet Championships.
