Fire in St. Marys ruled arson

ST. MARYS – The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal's Unit, St. Marys City Police, and the Crystal Fire Department report conducting an investigation into the origin and cause of a fire that occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 137 Lynch Rd. in St. Marys. The fire has been ruled arson.
Members of the Crystal Fire Dept. report being called out at at 4:24 a.m. that morning for a reported structure fire with flames showing at the Lynch Road address. Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure fully involved in fire. Firefighters made sure no one was inside, set up a water supply and were able to knock the fire down in a few minutes, and then spent a large amount of time putting out the hot spots. The structure suffered heavy fire, smoke, and heat damage. According to police, the victim is listed as Laurie A. Hulings, 44, of St. Marys.
The family was not home at the time of the fire. The CFD reported being back in service at 11 a.m. In addition to the PSP Fire Marshal, the SMPD, and the CFD, personnel from the Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department and the St. Marys Area Ambulance Service also assisted at the scene.
This fire continues to be under investigation by the PSP Fire Marshal, CFD and the SMPD. Both the causes and origins of the camper fire that occurred on Monday, July 9, and the shed fire on Tuesday, July 10 also remain under investigation, with no definitive cause for either determined at this point.
